Students at the ELI are encouraged to participate in out-of-class activities often facilitated by ELI staff.

Conversation partners, discussion groups, home visits, campus events, and student organizations help students to experience U.S. culture firsthand. Lectures, exhibits, and seminars integrate students into the intellectual life of the University. ELI students have access to Syracuse University's excellent libraries, computer laboratories, and fitness facilities.

On-campus room and meal plan rates vary. Apartments are also available. Accepted students receive housing applications which they should complete and return immediately. Most international students choosing university living centers reside with Americans. Those living off campus must make their own arrangements.
