Online Course Computer and Email Requirements

No special software is required to use Blackboard. A PC or Macintosh with a reliable Internet connection and a stable web browser is sufficient.

Minimum Computer Requirements

• Windows 95 or higher / Macintosh OS 8.0 or higher 32 MB RAM (64 prefered)
• Internet access (broadband or dialup - minimum 56,600kbps)
• A recent version of a stable web browser (Netscape Navigator, Internet Explorer, FireFox, etc.)
• Microsoft Word 6.0 or higher, Claris Works 6.0 or higher, or OpenOffice 2.4 or higher

Email Requirements

Students enrolled in Syracuse University online courses are required to use their official university email account (yournetid@syr.edu) for all course-related communication. Read the Syracuse University's Information Technology and Services Department policy regarding email before enrolling in an online course.
