Mitchell Franklin - Biography


Mitch Franklin, Assistant Professor of Accounting in the Whitman School of Management, teaches courses in Financial Accounting, Corporate Finance, and Financial Planning. Prior to joining the faculty at Whitman, he completed all of his undergraduate and graduate studies at the Whitman School of Management and has worked at regional CPA and Financial Planning firms in the Syracuse area. Professionally, he is a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and holds his NASD Series 7 and 63 Securities licenses. To recognize his outstanding teaching, he has been nominated for and received numerous teaching recognitions, most specifically:

  • a nominee/national finalist for the National Association of Collegiate Scholars National Faculty of the Year award for 2004-2005
  • recipient of the 2005-2006 Whitman School of Management Beta Gamma Sigma Faculty of the Year award

Beyond the classroom, Mr. Franklin is also the faculty advisor for the schools VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Program. Professionally, he is a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, New Jersey Society of CPAs, NYSSCPA Syracuse Chapter Young CPAs Executive Committee, American Accounting Association, Executive Officer of the Whitman School of Management Alumni Association of CNY Board of Directors, as well as the Syracuse University Alumni Association of Central New York.
