You can protect your academic record and perhaps save money
by using correct procedures to adjust your enrollment status.
You may want to discuss your decision with an
academic advisor who might be able to help resolve a problem
or suggest another option. Don't just start or stop going
to class.
Process your add or drop prior to the published deadlines
each semester. They are published in the Part-Time or Summer
Studies at Syracuse University Credit Course Schedule and
on this web site by selecting add/drop deadlines.
Schedule adjustment may be done via the web (www.syr.edu/services/students.html)
from the first day of classes through the last day to add.
After the add deadline, drops must be done by completing a
drop form and submitting it to Bursar and Registration Operations
by the appropriate drop deadline.
Adding a class
The deadline for adding a regular full-semester, fall/spring
course is one week after the start of the semester. Select
add/drop deadlines for a list of the current semester's
deadline dates. Summer dates vary, so be sure to check the
Summer Studies at Syracuse University Credit Course Schedule
for accurate summer dates. Once summer registration has begun,
you may select add/drop deadlines for a list of the
summer's add/drop deadline dates. After the add deadline,
only courses with a late start date may be added. Select Contact
to find how to contact your Bursar and Registration Student
Services Coordinator. University policy prohibits students
from attending, being evaluated, auditing, or otherwise participating
in regular semester classes without being officially enrolled.
Adding Flexible Format (Irregular) Classes:
Classes that do not fit within the designated meeting pattern
associated with the University's published official term are
referred to as flexible format or irregular length classes.
These classes meet within the term but not for the entire
term, or the class begins or ends outside of the term beginning
or end dates. As many classes are contingent upon enrollment,
we strongly encourage students to register as soon as possible.
Classes that are under-subscribed will be cancelled. Therefore,
early registration enables us to confirm class offerings.
Early registration may also allow the student to participate
in a more flexible payment option. Any initial registration
for the term after the University's published first day of
the term is subject to a late registration fee of $50 regardless
of the date the class begins.

Dropping a Class with a Tuition Credit
As a UC student enrolled in UC class sections, it is not necessary
to get the instructor's signature unless it is so stated in
the course description. If you receive financial aid, get
clearance from the Financial Aid Office before dropping a
course, as this may affect the amount of aid you receive.
Drop deadlines: (full semester, fall/spring)
Exact dates for the current semester can be found by selecting
add/drop deadlines. Summer dates vary. For details,
see the Summer Studies at Syracuse University Credit Course
Schedule or, once summer registration has begun, select
add/drop deadlines for a list of the summer's add/drop
deadline dates.

Dropping a Class to Remove it from
the Transcript
Classes dropped by the academic drop deadline are not recorded
on the transcript and are not calculated into the GPA. However,
only classes dropped during the financial drop period may
be dropped with a tuition adjustment. Exact dates for the
current semester can be found by selecting add/drop deadlines.
Summer dates vary. For details, see the Summer Studies
at Syracuse University Credit Course Schedule or, once
summer registration has begun, you may select add/drop
deadlines for a list of the summer's add/drop deadline

Withdrawing from a Class
Following the academic drop deadline above, students may withdraw
from a class and have the symbol WD (withdrew) recorded on
their transcript. The WD does not count in the calculation
of the GPA. The exact date for the current semester can be
found by selecting add/drop deadlines. Following the last
day to receive a WD, students are evaluated on the basis of
the work completed in the course. Please note: students who
withdraw are still responsible for payment of all tuition
and fees. Summer dates vary. See the Summer Studies at
Syracuse University Credit Course Schedule for details
or, once summer registration has begun, you may select add/drop
deadlines for a list of the summer's add/drop deadline
dates.
